POSITION:  Commercial Property Accountant, NJ

POSITION SUMMARY

 Commercial and Residential Property Accountant will be responsible for the accounting associated for several properties in a region.   The Property Accountant reports to the Property Assistant Controller who in turn reports to the Property Controller.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain the accrual books for approximately 6-10 properties within a region. Includes approving  coding on purchases, recording journal entries, and following monthly closing procedures.
• Assists management in the budget process. Includes interfacing with management for assumptions, preparing budgets, inputting budget via journal entry into accounting software.
• Reports to management monthly and compares actual results to budget.
• Conducts annual reconciliations of CAM and semi-annual RET expenses with follow up billing to tenants. Position is also responsible for the assistance with information needed from individual tenant audits.
• Works closely with the bookkeeper and management to determine proper transaction coding.
• Assist with special projects

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree is required
• Public Accounting experience is a plus
• 5 years of related experience is required
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Experience in Yardi is preferred
